always a choice
Even in moments of despair, boredom, or anxiety, I carry within me a quiet truth -
the capacity to choose.
No matter how trapped I might feel,
there is always a choice available.
It may be small, subtle, almost invisible, but it's there.
The choice to breathe.
To feel what is happening right now.
To look in a new direction.
To move - even slightly - toward something different.
In Gestalt terms, this is the moment of becoming aware -
the point where contact with the present begins to expand.
When I start to recognize this, something shifts.
Life begins to feel less like a fixed, linear path
and more like a landscape through which I can move.
And wherever I go, I carry my inner landscape with me.
I begin to understand that as I move -
emotionally, mentally, or physically -
I can also begin to move and transform
the world around me.
This awareness doesn't come from thinking my way out.
It grows through attention and perception -
feeling the body, listening to emotion,
noticing how I make or break contact with the world.
What sensations am I aware of right now?
What colors, sounds, or movements are calling my attention?
This kind of awareness roots me in the present moment.
And as I stay with what is,
without rushing to change it,
I often find that movement arises naturally.
It reminds me that I am not alone.
I am touched by others,
by the environment, by sound and silence -
and in being touched,
I can also respond, shift, and change direction.
Always a choice.
